How many bricks do you need?
A half-brick wall takes 64 bricks per square metre at 10 mm joints. Doors and windows reduce the count; corners and cutting add to it.

Clay brick or sandcrete?
Most walls in Ghana are sandcrete block, then plastered and painted. A fair-faced fired clay brick wall is finished the day it is laid: the colour is fired into the clay, so there is nothing to plaster or repaint.
