What the course covers

Day 1 - Material, tools, and straight work

  • How fired clay brick behaves differently from sandcrete construction habits
  • Tool setup, safety, measuring, line, level, plumb, and gauge
  • Mortar consistency, bed joints, perpend joints, and joint thickness
  • Running bond basics and straight course practice
  • Defect spotting: waviness, open joints, dirty face work, and poor alignment

Day 2 - Corners, finishing, and assessment

  • Corners, returns, and keeping work plumb
  • English bond and Flemish bond demonstrations
  • Cutting, pointing, cleaning, and finishing
  • Practical coaching while each learner builds a panel
  • Panel assessment and feedback against the GhanaBrick Academy standard

Assessment standard

Completion proof is tied to practical evidence, not attendance alone.

  • Practical wall panel or equivalent build exercise
  • Line, level, plumb, bond, joint fullness, finish, cleanliness, and safe tool use
  • Instructor feedback with clear next-step recommendation
